Stretching

Gentle movement for flexibility and comfort

Stretching involves simple movements that help improve flexibility, ease stiffness, and enhance range of motion. It can include static, dynamic, or assisted movements, and is often combined with physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or mind–body practices like yogaTai Chi, and Qi Gong

How it helps

For people affected by cancer, stretching can help relieve pain, restore mobility after surgery or radiotherapy, reduce muscle tightness, and support independence in daily activities. It can also improve posture, boost energy, and nurture overall wellbeing.

Getting started

Stretching can be done at home or in clinical settings, and programs are often guided by physiotherapists or exercise physiologists to ensure safety and adapt exercises to individual needs.

Begin with gentle, guided stretches suited to your energy and mobility, and progress gradually under professional advice if possible. Even short daily sessions can provide meaningful benefits.
